In church culture, there’s a distinct dress code preference and look that most of the growing Christian community considers as holy. This dress code is continually forced onto others to follow. Many claim women of God ought to wear long dresses to the ankles/floor, as it is holy to do so. Wear stockings, slacks, etc. Though many follow this distinct dress code that consist of wearing these things, we fail to realize that there’s atheists that wears stockings and slacks too. A piece of clothing isn’t what makes you holy. It’s the person’s heart, motive and actions behind wearing the clothes that considers THEM to be holy (set apart).
As a woman of God, you may not LOOK like the encouraged image of one. Doesn’t mean you intentionally try to dress immodest because trust me, we don’t do that over hereeee. No woman of God should be showing back side and cleavage periodt. Many of us just don’t align ourselves to a outward appearance + style that has been cultivated into a stigma and pushed by most modern day Christians, Christians who paint women out as needing to LOOK a certain way in order to “really be a woman of God“ or “holy”. This has come about due to human commands, understanding & religious conduct, that in which blocks true intimacy with having a real relationship with Jesus Christ. They instead have built a relationship with religion.
Not everyone likes wearing flowery dresses to the ground, stocking, and such. Some women like wearing makeup and getting their hair done, it's the HEART POSTURE in which they get it that matters. If a woman is doing these things for the wrong reasons such as to seduce, be prideful etc then that's sinful and she most likely shouldn't partake in it until they're heart posture and motives towards it changes.
When we fail to judge the contents of someone's heart in a righteous way due to our own understanding, we could be discrediting a TRUE woman of God that is highly anointed. We could get caught up in thinking she isn’t Holy Spirit filled because we base their relationship with Jesus on the style of clothing they wear.
The Lord told Samuel "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7
He also said you’ll know a tree by its fruit, not by what it wears (Matthew 7:16). Fruit being their characteristics, actions, motives and the spirit they carry. A bad tree (unholy person) can’t produce good fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). But a bad tree can wear anything a good tree can. So how would we know who is holy or not?
JUDGE INWARDLY not outwardly alone, test people’s spirit. Understand that holiness is not just in what you wear, it’s the heart posture of the person wearing the clothes is what defines them and represents as holiness.
